When is the Best Time to Visit Sonoma Wine Country
For many wine lovers, fall is the perfect time to visit Sonoma Wine Country. The harvest season, or “crush,” usually kicks off in late August for sparkling wine grapes and wraps up in October for varieties that take a bit longer to ripen.
The energy during harvest is electric. Vineyards are abuzz with crews picking grapes at just the right moment. Production facilities are filled with the amazing smells of fermenting juice. There are harvest events and parties all over the region. And the vineyards transform with incredible fall colors.
