Despite the alleged “backdoor” controversy surrounding their collaborative Jordan Release 2023, it’s clear that the boutique run by Jordan’s son won’t get the “freeze” treatment going forward. In fact, official images of their upcoming Air Jordan 7 Retro project have surfaced, revealing a fiery design that features a variety of immaculate details that likely tell the story of Michael Jordan's triumphs in the international game.Obviously inspired by the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona, this Air Jordan 7 sees the colors of the Olympic Ring on the heel tab, sitting above a gold accessory attached to the arrowhead. Hints of red, gold, and navy blue return, drawing comparisons to the Air Jordan 7 "Olympic," while luxurious beige suede replaces the standard white leather. Additionally, the MJ insignia is pressed into the heel, while the Trophy Room logo sits on the left insole. Finally, "New sheriff in town", an excerpt from Michael Jordan's infamous quote to Larry Bird and Magic Johnson on their international travels, is embroidered behind the tongue.
Later in 2022, Los Angeles-based Undefeated has a quartet of “multi-patent” renders of the Jordan Release 2023 ready and awaiting release. The third known colorway, revealed by Travis Scott on his Instagram Stories, might sound familiar to shoe fanatics who loved the Dunk in the early 2000s.Much like the other two colorways revealed of the Undefeated Air Force 1 Lows, this release sees a full patent leather construction on the upper, giving off a glossy sheen that is sure to capture the attention of anyone nearby. What makes this color pack so appealing is that it's directly inspired by Undefeated's 2005 collaboration with Nike – the Dunk High NL “Clerks Pack from the limited collection that appealed to sneaker shops the most important in the world around the world.Dark brown toe overlays, light blue toe box, pink Swoosh logos, green midsoles — Undefeated left no color behind. Just like the other pairs, this release sees the five-strike logo pressed into the heel and highlighted on the tongue label.
Flaunting a utilitarian look, the iconic runner features an elaborate off-white suede upper FitSneaker. We then notice tone-on-tone TPU inserts, as well as a matching midsole. Leather overlays, meanwhile, feature a pearl gray hue while branding opts for black. A surprising toggle lacing system adds the finishing touch. On the Air Max Flyknit Racer, the lightweight knit upper, which was the silhouette's main attraction at the dawn of time, has been preserved almost identically to the one we know from the original. However, Nike has added matte black leather panels that stretch across the holes at the laces as well as on the heel cap to give the sneaker added comfort and fit. At the same time, the midsole has been upgraded with the sole unit from Air Max Pre-Day, which, among other things, comes with an exposed air bubble.
